Rory’s formative years saw his career develop via various roles in the government accountancy service and the energy sector both in the UK and internationally. After rigorous training in audit and risk management, accounting and financial analysis, he advanced to finance director level having held responsibilities covering business improvement, management reporting marketing and investment, as well as compliance and governance. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy and has delivered training on their behalf across the areas of management accounting, risk analysis and financial and operational controls. This experience has placed Rory as a key player within his client portfolio. His achievements include the design and commissioning of a customer invoicing system for an engineering firm; he greatly reduced the time taken to issue bills by 8 days per month, improving cash flow and minimising the risk of error by rationalising some 3000 different charge-out rates. As a customer accounting manager with a large gas distribution business, he introduced new technology to streamline bill-processing which saved U$S1m in annual administration costs and improved the integrity of the invoicing database. Rory utilises a variety of measures to drive enhanced performance for his clients, embedding KPIs, balanced scorecard and budgeting and forecasting. Rory is at his best when working with business owners and managers to respond to operational and commercial challenges. |
