David is a rounded, multi-discipline financial manager within the SME market; he has over ten years’ experience managing business support functions and the teams working within them.  Following a BA(Hons) in Accountancy, David’s professional qualifications include AIA (Fellow of the Association of International Accountants), IFA (fellow of the Institute of Financial Accountants), CAT (Certified Accounting Technician); he holds membership with ICM (Member of the Institute of Credit Management).

With over twenty years’ cumulative experience within the finance role, latterly David held a joint Head of Finance and General Manager responsibility for a media house, responsible for eight departments and over one hundred staff.  He oversaw the commercial and operational elements to assure the financial health of the business.  David’s next career move saw him leading the finance, IT and HR functions for a £5m turnover business with over fifty staff and three subsidiary companies.  As Company Secretary and Financial Controller he managed all financial aspects across the group:   setting strategic direction, cost control, forecasting, budgeting, cash flow, foreign currency transactions and international accounting.

Comfortable within the SME arena, David excels with business start-up projects, leading process and growth in the crucial early stages. He worked with one client to embed financial controls and reporting metrics, delivering against growth targets for three years to reach £1.7m turnover. He also put together the business plan for a youth magazine, where he was heavily involved in building the team and raising finance;  through David’s guidance this grew to become the third largest in its’ category in the UK.
